Roger Federer defeated Nikolay Davydenko with ease, 6-3, 6-4 on Saturday in the finals of the Exxon Mobil Open in Doha, Qatar.
Federer avenges his semi-final loss to the Russian in the same event a year ago and has proven that he is ready to pick-up where he left off in 2010.
Unfortunately tennis fans were robbed of a Nadal-Federer final in Doha when Davydenko defeated a very ill Rafa in the semis.
Perhaps the tennis Gods will be more kind at the Australian Open which begins in just over a week's time. Federer will be the defending champion however it is Nadal who will be going for his fourth Grand Slam victory in a row.
Let's hope that Nadal recovers from his recent illness in time to be in peak condition for the opening Slam of 2011.
Great performance from Federer. He hit the ball well all tournament. Could be a Fedal final in Melbourne... Check out my Aus Open prediction on the above link.
