From The Herald Sun: Serb star joins peace chorus
SERBIAN starlet Ana Ivanovic said yesterday the clash between Serbian and Croatian supporters at the Open on Monday had made her fear for her safety...
Ivanovic was relieved on two counts yesterday: that there was no repeat of Monday's violence and that she escaped the heat after just 56 minutes.
"It's sad what happened and, hopefully, they will learn a lesson," the 13th seed said.
"I don't think it will happen, but you never know if they're going to become aggressive towards us, as well.
"It's very bad that people just want to pick a fight without reason, basically, and I hope it doesn't happen again."
Ivanovic, who has Melbourne relatives, finds it hard to understand the bitter feelings between people she said are "basically all Australians".
