From The Australian: Electric umpires okay: Hingis
FORMER world No.1 Martina Hingis favours the use of electronic umpiring, claiming it would be remiss of officials not to take advantage of the technology, providing it does not slow play too much.
Speaking after her hard-fought win over gritty world No.50 Nuria Llagostera Vives of Spain in the quarter-finals on the Gold Coast, the Swiss star backed the use of a Hawkeye-type system, which was used by the team tennis Hingis played last year and is being used at the Hopman Cup in Perth."It is interesting to see them using the delay calls at the Hopman Cup at the moment," said Hingis, who had several questionable calls in her match with Llagostera Vives.
"It is possibly part of the game in the future. Other sports already use it a lot. The only question is if it will slow down the game. But if it doesn't, why not use it?"
