Mauresmo Avoids Criticizing Henin-Hardenne

Amelie Mauresmo absolutely refuses to say she's mad at Justine Henin-Hardenne.  But she makes it pretty clear nonetheless.

From the AFP: Mauresmo seeks to avoid controversy

AMELIE Mauresmo hinted that relations between her and Justine Henin-Hardenne might not be well following the Belgian's failure to complete the final at last month's grand slam in Melbourne.

Asked if she had been disappointed at Henin-Hardenne allegedly not apologising, Mauresmo said: "My reactions are still the same, meaning I don't want to get into a controversy on this.

"I have my opinions but I want to keep it personal. If I have some things to say it's not to you guys I want to say them.

"You can write what you want, or say what you want, or suggest things in the paper, but I don't want to get into the controversy.

"Because it (winning the Australian Open) is and was my joy and I don't want anything to interrupt that."

Mauresmo is, as they say, a class act. The fact that J H-H needs to bring it up a month later in yet another pitiful attempt at self-defense, with no words of praise for Mauresmo whatsoever, proves that she is not.

Is not that Justine needs to bring it up again, people keep asking her about it and so she of course needs to answer.
she did apologise to Amelie at the final speech.
Also, peole need to remember that with the long-term virus she has, you cannot take any risks.

yeh i think lotsa ppl are over that by now and its just the newspapers and stuff who live to stir up controversy

Yes, but note how Amelie handled the question when the press brought it up again with her, versus how J H-H handled it. And remember that quotes are rarely ever delivered within their full context, which these athletes are fully aware of and generally take into consideration whenever commenting on anything. They know that the public won't know what the question was that prompted their response.
