Another Day, Another Lleyton Hewitt Problem

From the Herald Sun: Anger at gay serve

LLEYTON Hewitt has angered gay groups after the tennis ace shouted "Who is this poof?" during the weekend's Davis Cup tie against Argentina.

Hewitt let fly after a line call was judged out by Portuguese umpire Carlos Ramos.

Hewitt denied using the word but video replay confirmed he said "poof".

Hewitt sure has a gift for saying things he shouldn't out there in the heat of the moment.  I wouldn't mind so much if afterwards he said something like, "Man, I can't believe those words came out of my mouth.  I'm so sorry and did not mean that at all."

But he always lies and claims he didn't say what he said even though video and numerous eyewitness reports confirm that he did.  Just be honest and move on with things.

While it's not too surprising that the racist Hewitt is also a homophobe, I can just hear the chorus of "oh all the p.c.'ers are up in arms over nothing." I just feel sorry for whoever his kid turns out to be, with such an angry, nasty, whiny jerk for a father.

After taking it twenty eight times, Australia's been shut out of the running for the Davis Cup. The problem, it appears, was Lleyton Hewitt’s apparent panic about his penis. Argentine player Guillermo Coria, who trounced Hewitt, said that he was hysterical about its whereabouts, reaching for it so often that Coria felt it necessary to considerately inquire if he'd been able to locate the wretched little thing. Whatever the explanation, Hewitt fumbled Australia’s chances.
What cannot be explained or excused is Hewitt’s pigheaded bigotry. After arguing with Portuguese umpire Carlos Ramos he pointed to Ramos and asked "Who is this poof?" Although he denied making the remark, the tape made at the event proves him to be a liar and a bigot. Not an unusual combination.
Homophobes make poor competitors and bigotry is a
contemptible substitute for athletic ability. Hewitt refuses to apologize. Perhaps he needs to get into another line of work. Maybe a tour of duty as a US sponsored mercenary in Iraq? He'd have no problem working for lying, homophobic bigots like those leading the Bush administration. And since he's a racist, maybe the Iraqis could teach him some manners.
